Solaris Volume Manager: Diskset/Metaset Not Available on One Solaris Cluster Node/System/Server, Lost Local Replica/metadb Information about Disk Set (Doc ID 1009331.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 29, 2016

Applies to:

Sun Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) - Version 11.9.0 to 11.11 [Release 11.0]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86 (32-bit)

Symptoms

Solaris Cluster composed of two nodes, NODE1 and NODE2.

NODE1 root filesystems were recovered from backup and local database replicas were not restored correctly. Since then, the diskset/metaset could not be switched over from NODE2 to NODE1.

The informaiton of 'metaset' command is not consistent across nodes.

NODE2# metaset
Set name = svmset, Set number = 1
Host Owner
NODE1
NODE2 Yes
Mediator Host(s) Aliases
NODE1
NODE2
Drive Dbase
d2 Yes
d3 Yes
d4 Yes
d5 Yes

Which is ok.

But on NODE1 there is no metaset available.

NODE1# metaset

no output here!

As a consequence, diskset can be owned by NODE2, but NODE1 is unable to take ownership.
