Purpose

Solaris Cluster is able to manage global devices and global file system (pxfs). A global file system requires a global device. The global devices using two different device paths.

This document illustrate the differences between use of a 'DID' device path (/dev/did/[r]dsk/d#s#) and a global device path (/dev/global/[r]dsk/d#s#).

Scope

This document illustrate the differences between use of a 'DID' device path (/dev/did/[r]dsk/d#s#) and a global device path (/dev/global/[r]dsk/d#s#). 

In short the document explains the difference between a /dev/global and a /dev/did device.
