Solaris Cluster 3.x How to Apply Patches in Single-User Mode with Failover non-global Zone/Container (Doc ID 1009717.1)

Last updated on MAY 09, 2024

Applies to:

Solaris Cluster - Version 3.1 to 3.3 U2 [Release 3.1 to 3.3]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)

Goal

This is a working procedure on how to apply patches in single-user mode with failover zones, if your zonepath is on shared storage under Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) control with Solaris 10 11/06 (aka Update 3) or higher.
This is especially necessary if you use the HA Solaris Container agent in a failover configuration with Solaris Cluster.

If your zonepath is on shared storage using zpools then refer to:
Oracle Solaris Cluster System Administration Guide - How to Apply Patches in Single-User Mode to Nodes with Failover Zones
