StorEdge Traffic Manager Software (STMS) may appear to take no action in dealing with an intermittent path error. For example, on a system using STMS to manage the multi-pathing to a generic SUN Storage array, there were intermittent path offline/online messages, coupled with 'scsi transport' errors. During these times, it didn't appear as if STMS attempted to fail over to the secondary path. The cause of the OFFLINEs was ultimately determined to be hardware related, and after the offending hardware was replaced, the offline/online/scsi-transport messages disappeared. However, this brings up the questions: What is the behavior of STMS during intermittent path failures?
