Goal

In order to redirect console output to the serial port on a system which has a Sun{TM] keyboard and X windows screen (together known as VDU) attached you need to perform the steps listed below.

The following steps have been tried on Solaris[TM] 2.6, 7, 8 and 9 and work fine on all systems which have VDU and serial interface installed.
