Cannot Migrate a Solaris 10 Zone (Doc ID 1011583.1)

Purpose

This document describe troubleshooting when one is "Unable to Migrate a Zone from one system to another"

Symptoms :

Zone migration may fail for various reasons.  Symptoms will vary depending on which step of the migration process fails (zoneadm detach or attach).

Messages may include:

zoneadm: zone 'myzone': only a privileged user may detach a zone.
zoneadm: zone 'myzone': only a privileged user may attach a zone.
These packages installed on the source system are inconsistent with this system
These packages installed on this system were not installed on the source system
These patches installed on the source system are inconsistent with this system
These patches installed on this system were not installed on the source system
zoneadm: zone 'ZONENAME': ERROR: attempt to downgrade package SUNWxxx, the source had patch 1XXXXX-XX which is not installed on this system
