This document describes how to resolve a SES or PLD firmware mismatch for a Sun Storage 3510 or 3511 Array.

SES is the SCSI Enclosure Services processor, which handles enclosure management functions. PLD is the Programmable Logic Device, which is responsible for routing fibre channel traffic within the array. In an array with dual controllers, both controllers must use the same SES and PLD versions to avoid issues.

The example below shows a mismatch (The Rev column shows the SES firmware revision):

sccli> show ses
Ch  Id  Chassis  Vendor  Product ID        Rev   PLD   WWPN
2 124           SUN     StorEdge 3510F A  1040  A000  204000C0FF000008
3 124           SUN     StorEdge 3510F A  1040  8B00*  204000C0FF000008

* Indicates SES or PLD firmware mismatch.
