Symptoms

Veritas reporting incompatible media

Veritas continuously downing drives.
9840C high-density drives can read data from a tape cartridge written in the low-density format by T9840A/B. However, the high-density cannot not append/write data to a low-density data tape cartridge. Any attempt to append a low-density data tape cartridge on a high-density drive will fail, with sense byte data indicating an error, similar to that of a file-protected data cartridge.
