Symptoms

1.  Drive shows IN USE when no tape is loaded

2.  Client application is downing drives

3.  acsss_event.log is showing a software process failure

4.  A corresponding dismount failure message in acsss_event.log presents a conflicting message that the
    drive is really empty:
