Solaris Cluster Effect of a STOP_FAILED Resource on Resource_dependencies (Doc ID 1017543.1)

Last updated on MAY 09, 2024

Applies to:

Solaris Cluster - Version 3.0 to 4.4 [Release 3.0 to 4.4]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)

Goal

In a Sun/Solaris Cluster 3.x environment where "resource dependencies" is set to one or more resources (within same resource group and/or in other resource groups), we are concerned about the behavior (in a resource group shutdown situation) of the other resources when this resource fails to stop.

The r_properties(5) manpages currently state...
"...
Resource_dependencies (string_array)
A list of resources in the same or in different groups
upon which this resource has a strong dependency.
...
However, if this resource remains online or fails to
stop, a resource in the list that is in a different <<<<
resource group stops anyway. <<<<
..."

So, the question is what happens to those depended upon resources within the *same* resource group?
