This document is intended to highlight the fact that ufsdump(1M) on a mounted filesystem is not a supported ufsdump(1M) usage. It also provides some brief descriptions of the kind of issues that can result if live ufsdump(1M) is carried out.
*It is by no means intended as a guide for system backup methods.

Running ufsdump(1M) to backup a live/mounted filesystem may result in a number of issues. The use of ufsdump(1M) on a mounted filesystem is not supported.
