Goal

Solaris Volume Manager (SVM, previously known as Solstice DiskSuite) uses a device's "DEV-ID" for uniquely identifying the device.

There may be a need to turn off the dependance on the DevID, although it is usually not necessary. Note that turning this feature off will affect existing metasets. This is described in technical instruction .
