Correcting "Users Cannot Print, Only Root Can Print" (Doc ID 1020113.1)

Symptoms

Only the root user can successfully print a job using "lp".
Symptom: non-root users find that they can put jobs into a print queue with the "lp" command, but these jobs never arrive at the printer. The root user can print with no problems.

note: this covers problems related specifically to the lp subsystem and does not cover troubleshooting user authorization environments such as "sudo" or rbac(5) (Solaris' Role Based Access Control)
