PCF fonts compressed with the "compress" command don't work in Secure Global Desktop

Symptoms
A new pcf font or font directory containing pcf fonts, which has been compressed with the "compress" command (e.g. "myfont.pcf.Z"), has been added to Secure Global Desktop, but this font does not appear to be accessible by X applications launched from Secure Global Desktop (SGD). This result in X applications not being able to use these new fonts.
