Solaris Cluster How to Collect a core file when the Node/System/Server hangs during a boot into cluster (Doc ID 1331548.1)

Last updated on MAY 08, 2024

Applies to:

Solaris Cluster - Version 3.0 to 3.3 U2 [Release 3.0 to 3.3]
Solaris Cluster Geographic Edition - Version 3.1 to 3.3 U2 [Release 3.1 to 3.3]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit)

Goal

The goal of this document is to allow for a capture of a system core file when the node hangs during a boot into cluster.
It is presumed here that the node will boot successfully out of cluster (ok boot -x).

For example, when the bug noted in:
<Document 1021684.1> Solaris autopush Changes (with patches 141444-09/141445-09) May Cause Sun Cluster 3.1 and 3.2 Nodes to Hang During Boot
is being encountered.

This document will illustrate how this can be done on both ALOM and XSCF based platforms.
