How to Install Common Array Manager (CAM) in a Solaris 10 Non-Global Zone (Doc ID 1374689.1)

Last updated on JULY 17, 2015

Applies to:

Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM) - Version 5.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

If you want to install Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM) in a Solaris 10 non-global zone, you first need to install Lockhart/Java Web Console in the Solaris 10 global zone, otherwise the installation of CAM fails with one or more of the following errors:

skip installing Lockhart because it exists
Failed to get version

Starting LOCKHART
Cannot determine if console service is running.
Check log file: /var/svc/log/system-webconsole:console.log

Starting LOCKHART
Console instance "console" is not an SMF service

When upgrading CAM on a Solaris 10 non-global zone, Lockhart/Java Web Console must be updated first in the Solaris 10 global zone.  CAM is not supported on Solaris 11 because the Lockhart facility that it depends upon is not supported on Solaris 11.
