ACSLS - How to Enable the Solaris RPC Service
(Doc ID 1375152.1)
Last updated on DECEMBER 24, 2024
Applies to:
Sun StorageTek Auto Cartridge Sys Lib SW (ACSLS) - Version 6.x to 8.5.1 [Release 6.x to 8.0]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
ACSLS communicates with its ACSAPI clients via RPC (Remote Procedure Call) over a TCP/IP network. The RPC port mapper process
running on the ACSLS server is named rpcbind (in Solaris) or portmap (in Linux). The port mapper process establishes the listening
port from which the ACSLS CSI process will accept initial connection request from clients. The same port will also accept ACSAPI
requests from the clients after the initial connection channel has been established.
If the port mapper process is not running, the ACSLS CSI process will fail to start. And, if the CSI fails to start, ACSLS will not start.
This document provides the commands to start the RPC service on the Solaris server.
Note: On the Linux platform, refer to this document on how to start the portmap process:
