Symptoms
When you are using Gnome applications on CDE session, Gnome File Selection Box which is invoked from "Save" menu on these applications, such as gnome-text-editor(gedit), Gnome image viewer(eog) or etc shows the garbled characters if the file name contains Japanese characters.
Also if you saved a file with Japanese file name on the application, the filename could be garbled even with ls(1) command.
This does not happen when Gnome applications are running on Gnome session. Only happens on CDE session.
