Solaris Cluster HA-Oracle on Netapp: Failed to Lock /pkg/SID/oraSID/oracle/10.2/dbs/lkSID Exclusive When Starting SUNW.oracle_server Resource (Doc ID 1530148.1)

Last updated on MAY 07, 2024

Applies to:

Solaris Cluster - Version 3.0 to 3.3 U1 [Release 3.0 to 3.3]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86 (32-bit)

In this scenario HA-Oracle (SUNW.oracle_server) is configured in Solaris Cluster and the Oracle database is using nfs filesystem of a Netapp filer.

After power off from a node or incomplete shutdown of oracle server, the SUNW.oracle_server resource fails to start the database on any of the nodes with the following message in the Oracle alert log file or in the log file of SUNW.oracle_server (/var/opt/SUNWscor/...):

The originally attached Netapp filers had been replaced by new Netapp filers. These new filers hat been registered via scnas, but to register the shared mounts via scnasdir was forgotten.
