zpool Scrub Causes Unacceptable System Performance Reports Scsi Errors (Doc ID 1539024.1)

Symptoms

zfs scrub reports scsi errors (sample below).  the errors cycle through the various disks connected to the system, however regardless of which disks are used, or in any variant of the zpool, the error returns.

Note, customer has purchased a non-Oracle SAS card (Areca HA-ARC-ARC1880X) that is working flawlessly so far.  We've been stress testing it in our Sun X4600M2 server for the past week with no faults, no lockups, no errors.  Its sustaining nearly 380 MB/s reads when doing a "zfs scrub".
