Goal

To discuss this information further with Oracle experts and industry peers, we encourage you to review, join or start a discussion in the My Oracle Support Community - Disk Storage ZFS Storage Appliance

The goal of this document is to describe how to regain 'root' access to the system without loss of data(but accepting a considerable amount of downtime) when you have lost the root password of the ZFS Storage Appliance.

You cannot login using Browser user Interface(BUI) or Command Line Interface(CLI) but still have access to the Service Processor(SP) console.

If a factory reset is necessary, and a previous configuration backup was taken and can be restored, the network and data services settings can be kept.
