Exalytics and OBIEE 11g: 11.1.1.5 Request Upgraded To OBIEE 11.1.1.6.X Fails With Error: [nQSError: 59001] Subtract Operation Not Permitted On DOUBLE (Doc ID 1562895.1)

Symptoms

Upgraded the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) Repository (RPD) and catalog from version 11.1.1.5 to version 11.1.1.6.10 and migrated to Oracle Exalytics.
After completing this upgrade and migration, several requests/dashboards that were working fine in OBIEE 11.1.1.5 are now failing with error in the OBIEE 11.1.1.6.10 server on Exalytics.

The error details are:

Error Codes: OPR40NWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P

[2013-05-30T09:46:14.000-07:00] [OracleBIServerComponent] [TRACE:2] [USER] [] [ecid: ] [tid: ] [requestid: ] [sessionid: [username: ] -------------------- Query Status: [nQSError: 59001] Subtract operation is not permitted on DOUBLE PRECISION, VARBINARY operand(s). [[
[nQSError: 59140] The evaluation of the index 16 expression on row count -1 failed.
[nQSError: 43119] Query Failed:

The reports that fail include a calculated column that references DOUBLE datatypes in the logical model, but which are varchar datatype at the source database.

NOTE: This problem can occur on any OBIEE 11.1.1.6+ environment and is not limited to only OBIEE environments on Exalytics servers.
