zpool may not import after upgrading from Solaris 10 Update 10 to Solaris 10 Update 11 (Doc ID 1563073.1)

Symptoms

Performing zpool import will result into:
# zpool import -f <Zpool name>
cannot import '<Zpool name>': invalid vdev configuration

Plain zpool import (discovery mode) will show:

pool: <Zpool name>
id: <Zpool GUID>
state: UNAVAIL
status: The pool was last accessed by another system.
action: The pool cannot be imported due to damaged devices or data.

config:

<Zpool name> UNAVAIL insufficient replicas
cXtXdXs0 UNAVAIL corrupted data

 


Changes

 Patch (and/or Patch Cluster) upgrade from Solaris 10 Update 10 (or below) to Solaris 10 Update 11 (and above) [ KU 14714[78]-26 or above ]
