(Doc ID 1619315.1)
Last updated on DECEMBER 19, 2023
Applies to:
Solaris Operating System - Version 10 3/05 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
The desire is to have a custom SMF service which runs a script and returns immediately similar to a legacy init script (with no processes remaining)
The problem is that by the service start method completes and as there are no processes remaining SMF considers the service to have failed and so restarts it as by default SMF expects processes to remain within the contract.
This continues until SMF considers that there is a problem with the service and so puts it in maintenance state.
