SAM QFS samfsrestore Time is Too Long For Large 'shared' File Systems
(Doc ID 1624798.1)
Last updated on JUNE 11, 2018
Applies to:
Sun QFS and Storage Archive Manager (SAM) - Version 5.3 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Restoring a samfs 'shared' file system (samfsrestore) takes much longer than the equivalent samfsdump of that same file system. During a restore, if the file system is 'shared', this causes the kernel to synchronize the operations resulting in poor restore performance
Goal
The samfsrestore(1M) time can be significantly decreased if the file system is converted to 'non-shared' after it has been re-created with sammkfs(1M) and before doing the samfsrestore(1M).
