SL3000 - CAP Will Not Release Reserve (Doc ID 1901832.1)

Last updated on JULY 25, 2022

Applies to:

Sun StorageTek SL3000 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

The Masstore app does not have the capability of exporting tapes, so I have to do that task using SLConsole and the RcvrMove tool. The support rep sent me a range of tapes to export (we're converting from LTO4 tapes to LTO5, and the support company is transferring data from one to the other). I performed the export (around 100 tapes) and then found that a third of the tapes that were exported were from the BackupExec partition and should not have been. When I attempted to change the CAP assignment so BackupExec could re-import them, I was unable to.

Symptoms

Customer unable to allocate/partition CAP to SCSI1
