Solaris Cluster 'DID' Devices are Disappearing After Running 'cldevice clear' on Control/Primary Domain (Doc ID 1924150.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 26, 2023

Applies to:

Solaris Cluster Geographic Edition - Version 3.2 and later
Solaris Cluster - Version 3.2 and later
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)

Symptoms

In this configuration a Solaris Cluster is running in 2 control domains. And the system have also configured a one or more guest domains. This guest domain can be used as failover guest LDom or not.

As part of a system administration task, one LUN has been removed from the shared storage attached to the control domains.

It has also been removed at Solaris level.

Then in order to cleanup global devices namespace (DID devices), 'cldevice clear' command has been run.

The DID instance for the removed LUN has gone as expected.

But at the same time, several other DID instances have also disappeared, which was not expected at all.
