Purpose

Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition Release 12.1.0.2.0 - 64 bit In-Memory Option may now be installed on Exalytics Machines running Oracle Exalytics Release 1 Patchset 4 (Base Image 1.0.0.6) or later.  This document describes the certifications, use cases and installation.

Scope

This document is intended for Exalytics system administrators, OBIEE developers and others that may be managing the data warehouse and aggregates on an Oracle Exalytics system.  Knowledge of Exalytics and Linux systems is required; and experience with database system administration is recommended, but not required.  For sizing and planning purposes, Oracle recommends a maximum size of 830 GB for an Oracle Database installed on an X2-4 Exalytics Machine with 1 TB of RAM, and a maximum size of 1 TB for an Oracle Database installed on an X3-4 Exalytics Machine with 2 TB of RAM.
