Solaris Cluster 'ls -l' Command Can be Slow on an ufs/pxfs global Filesystem when Listing a Directory Containing Many Files (Doc ID 1928619.1)

Last updated on MAY 09, 2024

Applies to:

Solaris Cluster - Version 3.0 to 4.4 [Release 3.0 to 4.4]
Solaris Cluster Geographic Edition - Version 3.0 to 4.4 [Release 3.0 to 4.4]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit)

Symptoms

On an UFS filesystem mounted as a Solaris Cluster global filesystem (that is mounted with PXFS), ls -l of a directory containing about 245000 files is taking several minutes.

It takes the same amount of time if there is no pxfs secondary for that filesystem.
