Information in this document applies to any platform.

 pkg install/update failing as the package solver is unable to found the correct packages to install from the repositories.

Here is an example :

# pkg install gcc-45
Creating Plan (Solver setup): -
pkg install: No matching version of developer/gcc-45 can be installed:
 Reject: pkg://solaris/developer/gcc-45@4.5.2-
 Reason: No version matching 'require' dependency system/header can be installed
  Reject: pkg://solaris/system/header@0.5.11-
  Reason: This version is excluded by installed incorporation consolidation/osnet/osnet-incorporation@0.5.11-

This example tells us

1. Version of gcc-45 package found in repo is pkg://solaris/developer/gcc-45@4.5.2-
2. This package requires system/header
3. Version of system/header found in the repo is pkg://solaris/system/header@0.5.11-
4. This version cannot be installed because the system is installed with consolidation/osnet/osnet-incorporation@0.5.11- and this package requires system/header@0.5.11,5.11- or higher

    $ pkg contents -rm consolidation/osnet/osnet-incorporation@0.5.11- | grep depend | grep system/header@
    depend fmri=pkg:/system/header@0.5.11,5.11- type=incorporate

5. So because system/header@0.5.11,5.11- is not found in repo, the installation of developer/gcc-45 fails
