STA1.x/STA2.x - STA UI Becomes Unresponsive (Doc ID 1948826.1)

Last updated on JULY 25, 2022

Applies to:

StorageTek Tape Analytics - Version 1.0 and later
Sun StorageTek SL3000 Modular Library System - Version All Versions and later
Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

- STA UI becomes unresponsive (i.e. UI “frozen”).

- Attempts to re-login to STA fail.

- STA log reports OHW configuration problem.

STA UI<user interface> can stop responding to input, i.e. it has “frozen up.” When frozen the user may not be able to open a new window/tab or log into STA. If you log in to the STA server platform via secure terminal, you can confirm this is due to the symptoms described by looking at the STA log file staUi.log.  This log is typically located at /Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/TBI/servers/staUi/logs by default. If your STA install specified an ORACLE_STORAGE_HOME different from /Oracle, modify the above path appropriately.

It will show messages similar to the following:

<Nov 4, 2014 5:01:49 PM UTC> <Notice> <StdErr> <BEA-000000> <Nov 4, 2014
5:01:49 PM oracle.help.web.rich.helpProvider.OHWHelpProvider getHelpTopic
SEVERE: critical error in OHW configuration
oracle.help.web.config.parser.ConfigParseException: error finding
configuration file at: /sta-help/helpsets/ohwconfig.xml

Search for “OHW configuration” within the log file occurring close to the current time to confirm that this is the cause (i.e. this error can occur without causing problems).

Example below for the search.

grep "SEVERE:.*OHW" /Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/TBI/servers/staUi/logs/staUi.log

Another option is to use vi or another editor to look at and search through the file contents.
