Goal

With the introduction of N Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) in Solaris 11 customers will have the ability to create virtual fiber channel ports.  Although defined by the resources on the switch, you can assign up to 255 virtual ports per HBA.  When an HBA needs to be replaced, this can potentially cause an unnecessary amount of work as each virtual port will need to be recreated from scratch using fcadm (# fcadm create-npiv-port -p) because the new HBA will have a new WWN.

Is it possible to save or access the current NPIV configuration prior to HBA replacement or even after the HBA has already been replaced?
