Oracle announces End of Support (EOS) for OVMM for x86 Virtualization management using Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center and recommends customers to use Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c
Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c can perform end-to-end monitoring, configuration management and lifecycle automation of virtual machines to ensure that customers can capture and maximize the benefits of virtualization. All supported versions of OVM Manager (3.0.3, 3.1.1, 3.2.1+ and 3.3.1) are tightly integrated with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c or later.
Note : that since this announcement was made (September 2015) Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c went out and is now the recommended option.
Actions
- Customers doing a fresh deployment and use any supported version of OVM, Oracle recommends use of Enterprise Manager 12c for OVMM for x86 virtualization management.
- Existing Ops Center customers looking to use OVM 3.3 or later, Oracle recommends to transition to Enterprise Manager 12c for OVMM for x86 virtualization management.
- Customers currently using OVM 3.2 or earlier and are ok to use Ops Center for x86 virtualization management, Oracle will continue to support until the official life cycle support ends on December 2017. Beyond that, Enterprise Manager 12c would be the only management tool
