"Stream returned by SBC" in the Call Diagram and Missing Media Summary for Media Streams Forwarded by the SBC (Doc ID 2112441.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 04, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Session Monitor - Version 3.3.x and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

On an SBC, every incoming media stream usually has a corresponding outgoing stream which the SBC forwards to the destination. When an SBC sends VQ (Voice Quality) information about streams to OCSM (OCOM/EOM), for every such case it reports VQ only for the incoming stream, but not for the outgoing stream. This is expected and it occurs because the assumption is that the SBC will not make any changes to the media stream while forwarding it, thus it is not necessary to report it twice. For this reason, each such stream pair will appear only once in the Media Summary in OCSM (OCOM/EOM)

In the call flow diagram, OCSM (OCOM/EOM) will show an error for the outgoing stream as well in order not to confuse the user. If a user clicks on the corresponding arrow, for the outgoing stream OCSM (OCOM/EOM) will show "Stream returned by SBC"
