Creating snapshots of zvols fails with an "out of space" warning (Doc ID 2116088.1)

Symptoms

When taking a snapshot of a zvol or performing a recursive snapshot of a zpool that includes zvols (eg: rpool), the command returns an error like

    

 

Changes

The message is only seen at or after Solaris 11.2.9.5.0 (Solaris 11.2 SRU 9.5) with the introduction of 'Bug 18892210 - creating a snapshot for a zvol should fail if there is not sufficient free space'.
