Symptoms
Oracle Explorer Data Collector collects various system configuration data and logs. The output files are gathered in a output directory. By default, this output directory is in /var/tmp.
explorer(1M) command line also allows user to specific an output directory, via the "-t" switch:
This can overwhelm the tmpfs(7FS) and hence exhaust the available memory on the system. This can result in various out of memory symptoms, such as:
- "no swap space to grow stack"
- "tmpfs: WARNING: /tmp: File system full, swap space limit exceeded"
- System showing high paging or swapping activities.
- System hangs.
