10Gb Fiber NIC Unable To Link - transceiver mismatch (Doc ID 2152988.1)

Symptoms

Interfaces on a  "Dual 10-Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ LP" PCIe NIC card (Niantic, Option X1109A-Z   P/N 375-3617 ) were unable to obtain a link with a 10Gb switch.

There was no apparent problem with the dual 10Gb card.   It was recognized by the system, and interfaces could be plumbed.

The card was even replaced - and moved to different PCIe slots. Also different fiber cables and switch ports were tried - still no link.

Kstat data revealed evidence of a signal quality issue - for example:

  The ixgbe2 instance in this case was the interface primarily being tested .
