Last updated on MAY 05, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Secure Global Desktop - Version 5.2 to 5.2 [Release 5.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This is to explain one scenario where Secure Global Desktop (SGD) LDAP Authentication suddenly start to fail and users are seeing an error:

java.io.IOException: No response from SGD server.

Further investigations shows also java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out messages on directoryserver logs:

NOTE: directoryserver logs are created by enabling Log Filters as per:

https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E51728_01/E51731/html/sgd-auth-troubleshoot.html#sgd-auth-troubleshoot-log-filters

Rebooting the SGD server, restarting SGD services or re-entering the (same) User/Password details to the SGD Authentication Wizard on step "LDAP Repository Details" (per the URL below) will resolve the problem but the issue may happen again after a while.

How to enable LDAP Authentication: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E51728_01/E51731/html/ldap-auth.html#ldap-auth-enable
