SL8500 - How To Change Library Partition Configuration To Non-partitioned (Doc ID 2252443.1)

Last updated on JULY 25, 2022

Applies to:

Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The Library used to be partitioned in the past with HLI1 dedicated to a Mainframe environment and HLI2 dedicated to an open system VTL environment. The Mainframe environment was decommissioned and the HLI1 partition deleted. The VTL HLI2 partition slot capacity was expanded to the whole library slot capacity and the library put back online in operations.

The HLI1 partition was removed but the library is still displayed as Host Interface Type: Partitioned HLI under the SLConsole "Status", "General" tab

Since customer is no longer needing partitioning on this library they are planing to change the library configuration to Non-Partitioned HLI.

While checking the library configuration on SLConsole under the "Status", "General" tab, a pop-up window was seen saying  "PARTITION DEFINITIONs ARE INVALID"
