(Doc ID 2252452.1)
Last updated on SEPTEMBER 27, 2022
Applies to:
Oracle MiniCluster Specific Software - Version 1.x and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
MiniCluster initial installation may fail during step 16 "Shared Storage Setup: Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure 12c in Kernel Zones" for no apparent reason. The MiniCluster logfiles only mention a failure during the installation of Grid Infrastructure in the kernel zone (acfskz).
Grid Infrastructure installation logfiles need to be retrieved from the kernel zone (zlogin acfskz, then find GI logs). These logs will, amongst other issues, list NTP failures. These can be:
- PRVF-05410: Check of common NTP Time Server failed
- PRVF-05413: Node "{0}" has a time offset of {1} that is beyond permissible limit of {2} from NTP Time Server "{3}"
- PRVF-05416: Query of NTP daemon failed on all nodes
- PRVF-05424: Clock time offset check failed
- PRVF-09655: Query of CTSS for time offset and reference produced invalid output on node "{0}" Output: "{1}"
- PRVF-09659: The time offset of "{1}" on node "{0}" against reference node "{3}" is NOT within specified limit of "{2}" milliseconds
Other issues mentioned in the same log file, which are not the reason for the failure are:
- Size of swap space is not exactly as expected
- Some disks seem unavailable
These two issues are normal and not a problem.
Changes
NTP server unreliable or misconfigured.
