T10000C - Problems Addressed in 3.63.101 Microcode Release (Doc ID 2271846.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 27, 2023

Applies to:

StorageTek T10000C Tape Drive - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Problems addressed in 3.63.101 microcode release.

Note - It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to load and unload a tape in each drive that is upgraded to these code versions before they are put into production to see if the drive has a stuck roller.

It is recommended to review the ID files and identify any drives with 100 million meters on the roller sub assembly before installing this microcode. These are the drives most likely to have a stuck roller. You may want to upgrade these drives in stages and then load and unload a tape in them if there are a large number of drives to minimize the number of down drives the customer experiences due to stuck rollers. The remaining drives that are under 100 million meters do not need to be upgraded in stages.

Reference KB 2251787.1 which discusses 3F2E errors which is the error you will get if the code detects a stuck roller on a drive. Once the drive posts a 3F2E error it will no longer load tapes. .
