"Error: Communication failure" or "Error: transaction aborted" Seen on The Calls Page or User Tracking Page

I. "Error: Communication failure"

On the Calls page or under User Tracking page, when searching for calls (i.e. often when using filtering on the Calls page) there is occasionally the "Error: Communication failure" message thrown in the Status bar (bottom right) of the Calls table while no results show (or already showed partial result disappear):

In parallel the following error may be seen in the syslog (/var/log/syslog):

Aug 28 16:08:11 ocsm vsp: OperationalError: 1040 (08004): Too many connections

As well the symptom is that there are many (hundreds to thousands) connections open in state time_wait. You may check that with:

netstat -nap | grep TIME_WAIT


II. "Error: transaction aborted"

This error may appear on the same place of the Calls or the User Tracking page while no results show (or already showed partial result disappear):
