MacOS Users Unable to Connect to Prefererred SGD Server after Manual Client Launch (Doc ID 2321833.1)

Last updated on JUNE 17, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Secure Global Desktop - Version 4.63 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Users on MacOS devices that manually launch the Secure Global Desktop (SGD) client by "double-clicking" the tcc icon will find that upon start-up, the client will immediately attempt to connect to the last successfully connected SGD server, without prompting for alternates.

This automatic redirection can be frustrating for "power users", who may frequently interact with multiple SGD deployments, versions, or array nodes.

This behavior is specific to the manually installed client, and is only seen when the client is manually started , such as by double clicking on an application icon within the mac, or selecting it from the launcher.

Note: This behavior may also be seen on Linux/UNIX clients, but is most frequently reported on MacOS, as it is more common for users of that platform to initiate applications via the mouse, in lieu of the terminal.
