Expanding space in a zpool via online LUN expansion can be accomplished with attention to details. It is important to understand your configuration and be mindful of virtualized environments.

There is risk for a zpool to become suspended or corrupted after online expanding using the "Type -> Auto configure" option from the format utility. The objective of this article is to prevent such problems.
