Slow Start-Up Times for Java Based Applications Running on Solaris 11.3 SRU 29 or Newer. (Doc ID 2443748.1)

Symptoms


Once a system is upgraded to Solaris 11.3 SRU 29 or newer, the fix for bug ID 26628461 "smf service system/picl online but not fully initialized and prtdiag fails" will be installed on the system.

This fix introduces a change on the libipcl library to retry to read data from the picld five times with a delay of a second between each attempt. This is to give time for picld to become fully initialized on large systems.

When the problem happens a truss run against the slow process will show the following:

 

If the problem happens on a global zone, utilities that load the picl library may not run or produce errors, common example of such utilities is the prtdiag(1M) command.
