New Disk Replacement Fails In ODA X6-2M Using Version 12.2.1.3 or Lower ; Closed Or Candidate vs. CACHED MEMBER (Doc ID 2445304.1)

Symptoms

This article discusses a problem seen in earlier ODA version X6-2 M during a disk replacement.

We are replacing a faulty disk in an in ODA X6-2M using 12.1.2.3 or less.

At step 5 we see contradictory messages for the same disk and we are unable to add the disk as expected:

ONLINE CLOSED CANDIDATE  instead of the expected  ONLINE CACHED  MEMBER


...

 'ONLINE CLOSED MEMBER' and 'ONLINE CACHED MEMBER'

Changes

 Disk replacement for an X6-2 Lite Bare Metal installation ( ODA X6-2 S/M/L)
 Disk replacement was while the ODA was on a 12.2 version ( but under 12.2.1.4 )
 There were disks added above the base configuration of two disks.
  This ODA X6-2M system has 4 disks
