Oracle HSM (SAM-QFS): Linux Shared QFS Client Locks Up Using rsync (Doc ID 2450867.1)

Last updated on APRIL 19, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 6.1 to 6.1 [Release 6.0]
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server x86-64 (AMD Opteron Architecture)

Symptoms

The site has a Shared QFS Linux client running SL7 (Scientific Linux release 7.4 - Nitrogen - 3.10.0-514.el7.x86_64) mounting a QFS filesystem (/archive) from a Solaris MDS server.  If they run two rsync processes to list files (no data is being copied) on separate parts of the filesystem at the same time, the Linux client locks up the kernel, requiring a power cycle to regain operation.
