Purpose

Diagnostics for the Oracle Database Appliance requires confirming the ODA configuration being used.
My Oracle Support, documentation and other collateral searches should include specific factors which can differ between ODA versions,releases,etc...
Once identified the best methods for troubleshooting the ODA are fairly easy.

There are the key factors for the Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) which must be identified for proper data / diagnostics collection.

ODA Stack

The differences are:          

• DCS      -  Uses ODACLI and ODAADMCLI commands or the ODA Console
• OAKCLI  -  ODA Appliance Kit Command line interface (12.2.1.4 for X5-2 and lower)
                  -   Oracle Appliance Manager Command-Line Interface for Virtualization (18.5)

Commands

• oakcli show env_hw
  or
• odaadmcli show env_hw

Platform Type

• Virtualized - also known as ODAVP (ODA Virtualized Platform) 12.2.1.4,  18.3, 18.5
• Bare Metal - Bare Metal is the default installation type           12.2.1.4  vs. 18.3, 18.5 or higher

• oakcli show env_hw

• odaadmcli show env_hw

Hardware Type

There are several versions of Oracle Database Appliance and this document covers all versions.

• X7-2*
• X6-2*
• X5-2,X4-2,X3-2 and V1

Commands

ODA version

• 2.1.x through 2.10
• 12.1.2.0.0 through 12.1.2.12
• 12.2.1.x through 12.2.1.4
• 18.3, 18.5
  ... etc.

Commands

• oakcli show version -detail
  or
• odacli describe-system -d
   and
  odacli describe-appliance -d

Note: odacli describe-component  - is to be deprecated in newer versions
