Symptoms
High-speed copy (cp -z) seems to be slower than expected.
At the first iteration of using the the -z switch to the copy command (i.e. "cp -z" - the fast copy), it has been noticed that it is taking around the same time as a normal copy operation or in some instances even longer.
When attempted a 2nd time "cp -z" appears to be significantly faster.
