Last updated on AUGUST 02, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 5.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customer is configured using QFS filesystems in a Solaris Cluster using Oracle RAC (Oracle Real Application Cluster).  This configuration is referred to as SC-RAC.

They are reporting a performance issue when copying files to new storage recently configured to use new QFS filesystems to test with.

They reported testing using 'cp' to copy/write 1gb files to the new filesystems.  They said it took roughly 90 seconds to copy 3 files of 1gb each.  However, when they copied those same 3 files to their older filesystems, using their older storage, the copy completed within 9 seconds for 3gb. They reported that the delay/slowness was even greater when the file sizes were larger.

Changes

New QFS filesystems configured using a new storage array
